Keeping Up With the Times

So, there has been way too much going on to just write one post. But I'll start here anyway. We are absolutely loving being only an hour apart. Last weekend we got to go to Wesley's staff prom. It was awesome. Anywhere that plays the Electric Slide is already awesome, then add in Olive Garden and some of the best people ever, and there you go. We had a great time. The following day, we went to Memorial Park and let my pet turtle, James, go back into the wild. Eliot caught him for me about a year ago when he was tiny, and now he's at least three times as big. So, although it's sad, it's for the best that he has a lake now instead of a 10-gallon tank.

Then, last Thursday we met in Athens and left for South Carolina. The trip itself was quite an adventure. We stopped at a gas station that was overrun by cars. We stopped and interviewed the people there for Eliot's photojournalism class. You should see this-- it's pretty awesome. (You can see it on his blog here http://eliotvanotteren.blogspot.com/2008/09/gas-chaos-092508.html)

Friday morning we got to see Zach's (Eliot's brother) graduation from Marine bootcamp. It was great to be there, and we are all extremely proud of him. There should be some pictures of the ceremony on Eliot's blog soon.
It was a great weekend.

Athens/709 Cherokee Ave SE/SCADATL

I arrived in Athens on Friday afternoon of this past week. That night Paula and I made homemade spaghetti sauce and she made a strawberry cheesecake, from scratch! For Saturday lunch she took me out for Sushi, and that night we grilled out. I did the burgers while she made the french fries (not the frozen soggy sort, but whole potatoes fried in a pot of grease type of fries). She spent a large portion of the evening cooking several meals (chicken and rice, tortellini with chicken and fried veggies, leftover spaghetti and cheesecake, and a few extra burgers from the cookout) to tide me over during my first week of classes in Atlanta. On Sunday morning I made french toast and scrambled eggs. Sunday night was Five Guys Burgers.

We have been eating like royalty.

On Sunday evening Paula and I drove to Atlanta. I have since gained a new house, and three new roommates, or rather... they have gained me. The new place is directly across from Grant Park on Cherokee Ave SE. It is a great area. The park is awesome, and there is a zoo right across the street!

I misread my schedule and missed my first math class this morning... not a great start. But, I am going to hit the ground running at for 1 o'clock speech class.

More updates to come...

Neglect: For our readers

Many of you may have been wondering... what happened to Eliot and Paula? Did they die? Are they still engaged? Has Facebook taken over? May it never be so...

I would like to take a minute to explain our lack of web presence as of late.

As many of you know, Paula started school and a full-time internship early last month, I had surgery, spent 10 days in Mexico, and have been frantically packing for my coming quarter in Atlanta (coming quite soon I might add). We have both been job searching and up until recently it had been almost a month since we had seen each other, oh how we miss the summer. So as you can imagine, any free time either of us have had has been dedicated to each other... by way of cell phone unfortunately (we are both well versed in long term relating).

So in short... we are glad to be back online.

I posted two recent photos from our first attempt at engagement photos. There will be more to come, and next time we will actually have a photographer rather than just a tripod and a timer.

Keep your eyes peeled.

Wedding plans are coming along smoothly... you will hear much more of that in the days to come.
